Ishaq Dar Urges Iran for Dialogue and Diplomacy Amid Rising US-Iran Tensions in Mideast Crisis

Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar has emphasized that dialogue and diplomacy are the only viable solutions to restore stability in the Middle East amid ongoing tensions between the United States and Iran, which continue to disrupt the global economy.

The prolonged dispute has remained unresolved since a ceasefire took effect on April 8, with the Strait of Hormuz emerging as a major point of contention following Iran’s restrictions and countermeasures in response to regional hostilities. These developments have significantly affected global energy and trade flows, including oil, gas, and fertilizer supplies.

According to the Foreign Office, Ishaq Dar held a telephonic conversation late last night with Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi. Their discussion focused on the regional situation and Pakistan’s ongoing diplomatic efforts aimed at promoting peace and stability.

The statement noted that Araghchi appreciated Pakistan’s constructive role and mediation efforts, while Dar reaffirmed Islamabad’s commitment to encouraging dialogue and constructive engagement between the parties.

Dar stressed that:

“dialogue and diplomacy remain the only viable path toward peaceful resolution of issues and achieving lasting peace and stability in the region and beyond.”

Meanwhile, Iran has reportedly submitted a 14-point proposal “focused on ending the war,” which has already been responded to by the United States through Pakistani mediators. Tehran is currently reviewing the response.

Pakistan continues to play a key mediating role between Washington and Tehran, hosting high-level discussions last month. However, further negotiations have stalled, and a second round of talks has yet to take place due to ongoing disagreements.
