Pakistan Repatriates 31 Nationals From Seized US-Linked Vessels
Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar has confirmed that Pakistan has successfully repatriated 11 Pakistani and 20 Iranian nationals who were aboard vessels seized by United States authorities in recent maritime enforcement actions.
The individuals were transported through Singapore and later transited via Bangkok before continuing their journey home, according to an official statement shared on social media platform X.
He stated that:
“all individuals were in good health and high spirits, adding that the welfare and well-being of Pakistanis abroad, particularly those in distress, remained the government’s highest priority,” Dar said.
The repatriation process involved close diplomatic coordination between multiple countries, including Singapore and Thailand, which facilitated transit arrangements for the returning nationals.
Officials also confirmed that Iranian citizens will be assisted in returning to their home country following the completion of initial travel arrangements.
Dar expressed appreciation for international cooperation, thanking Singapore’s Foreign Minister Vivian Balakrishnan and the government of Singapore for their assistance throughout the process.
He also acknowledged support from Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, highlighting diplomatic coordination between the two countries in ensuring safe repatriation.
In addition, he noted the role of the United States in facilitating communication during the process, as well as Thailand’s support in enabling transit arrangements through Bangkok.
Pakistan’s foreign ministry and diplomatic missions in Singapore and Thailand were also credited for their coordination efforts, which ensured the smooth completion of the operation.
Earlier, officials had confirmed that Pakistan was actively engaged with international partners to secure the safe return of its citizens following the seizure of vessels near strategic maritime routes in the region.
