US and Israel in Advanced Preparations for Potential Action Against Iran

The New York Times report claimed that the United States and Israel have completed their preparations for an attack on Iran which could be launched as early as the coming week.

According to report that the US and Israel are currently undertaking what officials describe as their most extensive preparations yet for the resumption of military strikes against Iran with attacks expected to resume within days.

The report added that two senior officials from the Middle East said Israel and the US are exploring different military options.

These plans reportedly involve widespread bombing of Iran’s military sites and key infrastructure, including the capture of Kharg Island, a major Iranian oil export hub situated in the Persian Gulf and using commando units inside Iranian territory to seize buried nuclear material.

However, US officials stated that, such a special operation to recover obtain highly enriched uranium would involve serious risks.

Further added in the reports that carrying out such an operation would involve thousands of troops, a full blockade of the area, and could lead to direct clashes with Iranian ground forces.

It also noted that during joint US-Israeli operations last June, Iran’s nuclear facilities were targeted, after which around 440 kilograms of highly enriched uranium were believed to be buried under debris—enough to potentially produce about 10 nuclear weapons.
