Seven killed, three injured in twin blasts in KP's Bannu
BANNU: At least seven people were killed and three others injured in two explosions in the Merka Bera area of Bannu on Saturday, according to District Police Officer (DPO) Yasir Afridi.
The first blast happened when an explosive device planted on the roadside went off as a passenger van was passing through. The van was travelling from Hathi Khel village to Bannu. Five passengers lost their lives in this explosion.
Shortly after the first blast, a second explosion occurred at the same location. Two more people, who had rushed to help the victims, were killed in the second blast. A vehicle was also damaged, and three people were injured in the incident.
The bodies of the deceased and the injured were shifted to Khalifa Gul Nawaz Teaching Hospital for treatment and legal procedures.
Authorities have started an investigation to find out who was behind the attacks. Security forces are also collecting evidence from the scene.
This incident comes months after a suicide attack in Bannu in April that killed several people, including women and children.
Security forces have been carrying out counter-terrorism operations in different parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan to improve law and order.
Officials say investigations are ongoing, and more details will be shared as they become available.
