AJK Police Reject Claims of Violence at Rawalakot Protest, Call Social Media Campaign “Misleading”

Authorities in Azad Jammu and Kashmir have rejected allegations circulating on social media regarding an alleged police attack and firing at a protest in Rawalakot, describing the claims as baseless and part of a coordinated misinformation campaign.

According to the spokesperson for the Inspector General of Police (IGP) Azad Jammu and Kashmir, no action was taken against the sit-in at the designated location, including the Eidgah area. The spokesperson said that some individuals associated with the “so-called action committee” were circulating old videos to create panic and unrest among the public.

The statement further alleged that certain elements were attempting to mislead people through propaganda due to declining public support. It added that such efforts would not succeed, and reiterated that law enforcement agencies were acting with restraint while maintaining order in the region.
