US Airstrikes Reportedly Hit Civilian Infrastructure Across Iran, Killing Civilians

18 July, 2026 18:37

American forces reportedly carried out overnight airstrikes across several Iranian provinces into Friday, targeting civilian infrastructure, including the maritime control tower at Chabahar’s Shahid Kalantari Port. According to Iranian officials, the strikes killed eight people at the port and formed part of a wider bombardment that affected the provinces of Hormozgan, Bushehr, Sistan and Baluchestan, Khuzestan, and Lorestan.

Iranian authorities said the latest attacks came after fighting resumed following a ceasefire that had previously paused hostilities between Iran and the United States and Israel. Officials claimed that 38 civilians have been killed and more than 400 others injured since the renewed attacks began, adding that thousands had already died during the earlier phase of the conflict. These casualty figures and the broader claims have not been independently verified.

The reported strikes also targeted six bridges in Hormozgan’s Khamir County, damaging key transport links connecting Bandar Abbas, Bandar Khamir, Lar, and surrounding areas. Iranian officials said seven people were killed in the bridge attacks. The latest escalation follows recent statements by US President Donald Trump threatening to target Iran’s critical infrastructure, while the attacks on Chabahar have drawn attention because of the port’s strategic role as Iran’s only deep-water gateway to the Arabian Sea and the Indian Ocean.
