Pakistan, EU Discuss Regional Security and US-Iran Tensions

Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar met European Union High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Kaja Kallas on the sidelines of the 33rd ASEAN Regional Forum (ARF) in Manila.

During the meeting, Kallas recalled her recent visit to Islamabad for the 8th round of the Pakistan-EU Strategic Dialogue. Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening cooperation under the Pakistan-EU Strategic Engagement Plan.

They also discussed regional developments, including the US-Iran situation. Both sides stressed that continued diplomacy is the best way to achieve lasting peace and stability.

The two leaders also discussed the conflict’s impact on regional security, global energy markets, maritime security, trade and supply chains. They highlighted the importance of dialogue and respect for international law.

Ishaq Dar reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to implementing international conventions linked to the GSP+ framework and stressed the importance of strong economic ties with the European Union.
