Pakistan, Jordan Foreign Ministers Discuss Escalating Situation in Palestine

Islamabad: Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar held a telephone conversation with Jordan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, Ayman Safadi, to discuss the deteriorating situation in Palestine and ongoing diplomatic efforts aimed at addressing the crisis.

During the call, the two leaders expressed grave concern over the worsening humanitarian and security situation, particularly the continued Israeli military operations in Gaza and the Occupied West Bank. They highlighted the impact of intensified air strikes, ongoing ground operations, and escalating settler violence, emphasizing the urgent need for international attention to the crisis.

The ministers also strongly condemned the repeated mass incursions into the Al-Aqsa Mosque compound in occupied East Jerusalem by Israeli settlers and far-right groups, along with restrictions imposed on Palestinian worshippers. They stressed that such actions violate the sanctity of the holy site, inflame regional tensions, and undermine efforts to achieve lasting peace.

The conversation also focused on Jordan’s proposal to convene a meeting of Arab and Islamic countries to review the evolving situation and coordinate diplomatic initiatives and collective responses to the ongoing developments.

Foreign Minister Safadi appreciated Pakistan’s constructive role and continued efforts in promoting regional peace and stability, expressing hope that the ongoing diplomatic initiatives would contribute to positive outcomes.

Reaffirming Pakistan’s longstanding position on the Palestinian issue, Senator Ishaq Dar reiterated Pakistan’s unwavering support for the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people. He emphasized Pakistan’s commitment to a just, lasting, and comprehensive peace based on the implementation of the two-state solution, including the establishment of an independent, contiguous, and viable State of Palestine on the pre-1967 borders, with Al-Quds Al-Sharif as its capital.
