CDF Asim Munir, Mohsin Naqvi conclude day-long visit to Iran

Pakistan’s Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces Field Marshal Asim Munir has concluded a day-long visit to Iran alongside Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi as part of Islamabad’s diplomatic efforts to reduce tensions between the United States and Iran.

According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), Field Marshal Asim Munir held a series of high-level meetings in Tehran focused on preventing further escalation, restoring normal movement through the Strait of Hormuz and finding a peaceful resolution to the conflict.

During the visit, Field Marshal Asim Munir met Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian, Supreme Leader’s representative on the Supreme National Security Council Mohsen Rezaei, Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi and Interior Minister Eskandar Momeni.

The meetings covered regional security, peace efforts and possible avenues for a negotiated settlement between Washington and Tehran.

Iranian leadership appreciated Pakistan’s constructive role and sincere efforts to facilitate dialogue, reduce tensions and support a peaceful resolution to the conflict, according to the ISPR statement.

Field Marshal Asim Munir was received upon his arrival in Tehran by Iranian Interior Minister Eskandar Momeni and other senior civil and military officials.

Pakistan has been actively seeking to play a mediating role between the United States and Iran, with Islamabad calling for dialogue and diplomacy to prevent further escalation in the region.

The visit also comes amid growing concerns over disruptions to shipping through the Strait of Hormuz, a critical international waterway for global energy supplies.

Pakistan has repeatedly emphasized that lasting peace in the region can only be achieved through meaningful dialogue, diplomatic engagement and a negotiated settlement.

The latest diplomatic initiative reflects Islamabad’s efforts to prevent the conflict from widening and to promote regional stability while protecting vital economic and trade interests.
