Pakistan, Kuwait Sign Protocol Agreement 2026 to Strengthen Defence Cooperation

RAWALPINDI: A high-level Kuwaiti delegation led by Kuwaiti Defence Minister Sheikh Abdullah Ali Abdullah Al-Salem Al-Sabah met Defence Minister Khawaja Asif at the Ministry of Defence in Rawalpindi.

Kuwaiti Armed Forces Chief of General Staff Lieutenant General Khaled Daraj Saad Al-Sharihan also accompanied the delegation during the meeting.

The discussions focused on matters of mutual interest, with particular emphasis on strengthening defence relations, security cooperation and military ties between Pakistan and Kuwait.

During the meeting, Pakistan and Kuwait signed the “Protocol Agreement 2026”, aimed at expanding and reinforcing the existing framework of military cooperation established under the “Defence Cooperation Agreement 2023.”

Under the new agreement, the Pakistan Armed Forces will provide assistance to the Kuwaiti Armed Forces in several areas, including military training, capacity building, border management and other fields of defence cooperation.

The Ministry of Defence said the agreement reflects the deep trust, mutual respect and shared strategic interests between Pakistan and Kuwait.

Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to further strengthening their security partnership and expanding military cooperation.

The two countries also expressed their resolve to enhance joint efforts aimed at promoting peace, security and stability in the region.
