Warren Accuses Trump and Oil Giants of Profiting from Iran War

30 August, 2026 16:57

US Democratic Senator Elizabeth Warren has sharply criticized President Donald Trump, accusing him and oil companies aligned with his administration of profiting from the war on Iran. Speaking at an election rally for a fellow Massachusetts Senate candidate on Friday, Warren called Trump “the most corrupt president ever in American history” and said the public should challenge what she described as war profiteering by his political and corporate allies.

Warren pointed to major US oil companies that she said had benefited financially from the conflict, including firms whose executives or interests supported Trump’s presidential campaign. She argued that ending the war would also help reduce gasoline prices, declaring, “You want to lower the price of gasoline? End the war on Iran. Just end it.” Her comments echoed concerns raised by US allies in Europe and the Persian Gulf over the economic consequences of the conflict.

US oil companies have recorded significant profits since the war began on February 28, while Trump himself has criticized high oil prices. CBS News reported that financial disclosure filings show Trump has continued to buy and sell holdings in oil and natural gas companies. The White House has maintained that the president is not personally involved in managing his trades, amid growing scrutiny over potential conflicts of interest surrounding his business and investment activities.
