Khalistan Supporters Protest RSS Chief Mohan Bhagwat’s Visit to New York

Khalistan supporters staged a protest in New York during RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat’s visit, gathering outside Madison Square Garden and chanting slogans against the Indian government. Demonstrators expressed strong concerns over what they described as the promotion of Hindu nationalist policies in India and protested alleged discrimination against Sikh, Muslim and Christian communities.

Gurpatwant Singh Pannun, general counsel of Sikhs for Justice, criticized the Indian government and accused the RSS and BJP leadership of seeking to transform India into a so-called “Hindu Rashtra.” Protesters also raised issues including the 1984 Indian military operation at the Golden Temple, the demolition of the Babri Mosque and violence in Manipur.

The demonstrators further voiced concerns over the alleged use of Indian state institutions against Sikhs, Muslims and Christians, while highlighting what they described as deteriorating human rights conditions in India. They called for greater international attention to the rights and protection of religious minorities in the country.
