Ishaq Dar, Egyptian Foreign Minister Discuss Bilateral Ties and Regional Developments in New York

NEW YORK: Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Muhammad Ishaq Dar met with Egyptian Foreign Minister Dr. Badr Abdelatty on the sidelines of the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York.

During the meeting, the two ministers reaffirmed the longstanding fraternal relations between Pakistan and Egypt and expressed their commitment to further strengthening bilateral cooperation.

The discussions covered a wide range of areas, including trade and investment, economic cooperation, education, cultural exchanges and people-to-people contacts.

Ishaq Dar and Badr Abdelatty also discussed regional and international developments, including the prevailing situation in the Middle East and Iran.

The two sides underscored the importance of dialogue and diplomacy in addressing regional challenges and promoting peace and stability.

Dar also stressed the need for all parties to ensure the full implementation of the Islamabad MoU.

The two ministers reaffirmed the importance of continued consultations under the Regional Four (R4) framework and agreed to further strengthen coordination on issues of mutual interest.

They also emphasised the need for continued international cooperation and effective multilateralism to address common global challenges.

The meeting formed part of Pakistan’s diplomatic engagements on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly, where Islamabad is seeking closer coordination with international partners on bilateral, regional and global issues.
