Iran and China to sign a 25 year agreement on broader cooperation.

Tehran-based foreign ministry spokesperson Said Khatibzadeh said that Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi will sign it on behalf of his country.

The 25 year agreement includes political, strategic and economic cooperation.

First, Chinese President Xi Jinping had proposed this pact during his visit to Tehran in January 2016.

Khatibzadeh disclosed details, while speaking to IRIB TV Channel 1.

He further said that China’s Foreign Minister Wang Yi is visiting Iran on the eve of the 50th anniversary of establishing diplomatic relations between the two countries.

During this visit, both sides would sign that document.

The Chinese Foreign Minister had arrived in Tehran Friday night.

According to the Spokesman, he is also going to have meetings with a number of Iranian authorities.

He also said that the two sides had discussed cooperation document when the Chinese President Xi Jinping visited Iran, to lead bilateral ties to a comprehensive and strategic level.

He also highlighted relations between Iran and China as multi-layered, deep and having different dimension.

Formalizing strong bilateral ties

That necessitates them to formalize in a document.

Therefore, the both sides exchanged document for several times and eventually they will signed it on Saturday.

Foreign Minister Javad Zarif will sign on behalf of Iranian government.

The document has a comprehensive road-map while economic dimension remains the main axis of the document.

It also includes cooperation in different, as well as Iran’s participation in One Road, One Belt initiative and special focus on the private sector in both countries.

Iran’s Foreign Ministry Spokesman further said that no comprehensive strategic participation is established unless the exact cultural, popular and media basis is formed.

Therefore, Iran and China has addressed those aspects in the cultural part of the document.

“We expect the document to serve as a road-map for Iran-China relation in the next 25 years.”
