Alia Bhatt Uses Samay Raina’s “Kisi Gareeb Aadmi Ne” Line to Shut Down Heckler at Event — Watch

01 July, 2026 15:44

Bollywood actor Alia Bhatt delivered one of the sharpest moments of the Alpha promotional tour when she responded to a heckler at JECRC University in Rajasthan with none other than comedian Samay Raina’s own now-iconic comeback line — and the internet loved every second of it.

What Happened at the Alpha Event

During an interactive session with students, Alia was asked how she had convinced herself to appear on India’s Got Latent — a comedy show known for its unfiltered, spontaneous format. The audience member phrased it directly:

“How did the management and you convince yourself ki main Latent pe aaun aur itna unfiltered show karke dikhaun?”

Before Alia could answer, someone from the crowd shouted, “Paisa (money)!” — implying money was the only motivation. Rather than brushing it off, Alia smiled and immediately deployed the line that Samay Raina had made famous, responding:

“Kisne bola ye, kisi gareeb aadmi ne (Who said this, probably some broke person).”

The crowd erupted with cheers and laughter, and a clip of the exchange spread rapidly across social media platforms.

Samay Raina and India’s Got Latent React

As the video gained traction online, the official India’s Got Latent social media handle was among the first to respond, commenting, “Too good!” Samay Raina himself reacted with a simple but emphatic, “Killl!” — signalling his clear approval of Alia carrying his line into a new viral moment. Not everyone was convinced the exchange was unscripted, however. One social media user summed up the scepticism with: “I know it’s scripted but I can’t prove it!”

The Original Viral Moment — Where the Line Came From

The line traces back to the opening episode of India’s Got Latent’s latest season, in which both Alia Bhatt and her Alpha co-star Sharvari appeared as celebrity guests. Samay Raina had asked the audience what women find most attractive in men, and an audience member responded with “Paisa.” As a visibly annoyed Alia asked who had made the remark, Samay swiftly diffused the tension with the comeback, “Kisi gareeb aadmi ne” — a wry, humorous deflection that was widely praised for calling out the stereotype without escalating the moment.

About the Film Alpha

Directed by Shiv Rawail and backed by Yash Raj Films, Alpha stars Alia Bhatt and Sharvari alongside Bobby Deol and Anil Kapoor, with a special appearance by Hrithik Roshan. The film holds the distinction of being the first female-led entry in the YRF Spy Universe and is scheduled to release in theatres this Friday.
