Islamabad: On Saturday, Fawad Chaudhry, a former federal minister, was taken into custody there. Hiba Chaudhry, his wife, attested to his arrest.

Hiba Chaudhry claimed that Fawad Chaudhry had been taken into custody at home in an exclusive interview with Suno News. She said, “He had been showing up in court on a regular basis.”

According to Faraz Chaudhry, the police had arrested and seized his brother Fawad Chaudhry from their residence. He said, “He has been moved to an unidentified location.”

In a message uploaded on the social media platform X, Fawad Chaudhry’s brother Faisal Chaudhry expressed grave concerns about his brother’s safety.

“My brother was taken into custody from my Islamabad home. He was at my house having breakfast,” he continued.

He said plainclothes officials kidnapped him. “Despite our determination, no arrest warrants have been issued,” he added.
Additionally, a district and sessions court in Islamabad on Saturday approved the remand of former National Assembly Speaker Asad Qaiser and sent him to Adiala Jail, Rawalpindi.
Islamabad Police produced Asad Qaiser before the court of Judicial Magistrate Qudratullah and sought remand.
Police told the court that Asad Qaiser was arrested in a corruption case in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP). The KP anti-corruption agency has sought to arrest Asad Qaiser. Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) lawyer Shoaib Shaheen argued: “Who gave the Islamabad police the power to arrest someone in a case? Why were the police in a hurry? The election announcement was made yesterday and Asad Qaiser was arrested.
“Asad Qaiser was the subject of political revenge,” he told the court. He should be released in this case. He also requested a protective bond. It would be a different matter if the anti-corruption agency sought help from the Islamabad police.
The court has asked the KP anti-corruption agency to complete legal procedures related to Asad Qaiser’s case. “KP Police is expected to complete the process, but it will not take more than a week,” the statement added.
It may be noted here that Asad Qaiser was arrested from his residence in Islamabad on Friday.
