Punjab Chief Minister Mohsin Naqvi announced an ambitious plan to restore the province’s health care system, promising to raise the quality of medical services to a new level.

Speaking as the chief guest at the 3rd Vice-Chancellors, Directors and Medical Directors Conference here on Saturday, Mohsin said that the Vice-Chancellors, Directors and MS team are an integral part of the province’s health care delivery system.

Naqi informed doctors that the modernization of the emergency department at Mayo Hospital is a model for the transformation planned for 32 hospitals in the province. “By January 31, the entire health network must be rejuvenated. »

He acknowledged the commendable state of the primary health sector, but emphasized the urgent need to improve specialist health services, which have long been neglected due to financial constraints.

Minister Mohsin Naqvi said Rs 26 billion needs to be allocated to modernize hospitals.

In a resolute statement, he assured the public that if an additional 50 billion was needed for this venture, it would be provided without hesitation. Naqvi emphasized that the real beneficiaries of this investment will be the people, as long as the money is spent honestly and effectively. He emphasized that every rupee allocated will contribute to improving the health sector.

To ensure the success of the hospital modernization program, Minister Naqvi is committed to following the recommendations and advice of the vice-chancellors, directors and medical directors (MS).

He emphasized the importance of these stakeholders taking ownership of the hospital, emphasizing their important role in the process.

Naqvi noted that hospital improvements are aimed at improving the convenience and welfare of the public and therefore, vice-chancellors, directors and MS should work hard to minimize inconvenience to Patients in transition. He expressed confidence that their collective efforts within three to four months could bring significant relief to the people.

Realizing the need for administrative training, Minister Naqvi revealed his intention to train professors, PhDs and principals in effective management.

Drawing on his own experience, he emphasized the importance of administrative training, recounting the challenges encountered when launching a news channel that lacked administrative knowledge.

Discussing capacity and patient care at hospitals, Naqvi said 40,000 patients are being treated on 31,000 beds. He acknowledged the doctors’ dedication and kindness, noting their efforts to treat more patients than their capacity would allow. The minister praised the compassion of doctors, emphasizing their commitment to providing care even when resources are limited, ensuring patients do not have to go home due to lack of beds.

Naqvi emphasized that such dedication has contributed significantly to the welfare of the people and deserves recognition and gratitude.

The CM emphasized that education, health and inflation are the three areas that hold the key to providing much-needed relief to the people.

“The government intends to tackle these challenges with determination and strength,” he declared.

He rejects the notion that doctors are solely responsible for the health system’s shortcomings. He questioned the ability of doctors to provide top-notch care without the necessary resources and infrastructure.

Realizing that optimal performance cannot be achieved without adequate facilities, he emphasized the urgent need to improve resources.

“To address this imbalance, the government has embarked on an ambitious drive to revamp Punjab’s health infrastructure,” he said, adding that 20 lakh new beds will be created in hospitals for unfortunate patients in the province.

The minister said the government is providing all necessary facilities to all the management, staff and doctors of hospitals in the province. Now they have the responsibility to consider the hospital as their home,” he added. Recognizing the importance of equipping principals and teachers with essential management skills, the government is committed to organizing administrative training workshops.

The minister emphasized that doctors do not intentionally misdiagnose patients and pointed out that errors occur very rarely, only 1% of cases.

The Prime Minister also supports the establishment of private clinics in hospitals to improve the quality of care.

The Minister expressed his deep belief that public hospitals should be the first choice for patients who want to preserve their lives.

He emphasized the central role of hospital directors and medical directors in improving hospital conditions and asked them to actively participate in determining hospital working hours. It has been recognized that hospitals can generate revenue through their laboratories, a valuable resource.

Furthermore, the Chief Minister expressed hope that 10,000 more nurses will be deployed in Punjab under the caretaker government, thereby strengthening the healthcare workforce.
