24 April, 2024 20:07

Pakistan star wicketkeeper Mohammad Rizwan and rookie batter Irfan Khan Niazi ruled out from the remainder of the T20I series against New Zealand.

The five-match series is leveled at 1-1 with remaining two matches will be played in Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore.

According to the Pakistan Cricket Board, both players were rested after reviewing their Radiology reports.

“PCB Medical Panel yesterday received Radiology reports of Mohammad Rizwan and Mohammad Irfan Khan. After reviewing the reports and in consultation with the Pakistan team management, it has been decided to rest the two players from Thursday’s and Saturday’s T20Is against New Zealand,” said PCB in a press release.

The two players will work on their rehabilitation with the PCB Medical Panel at NCA.

Remember, Rizwan suffered discomfort in his hamstring during the third T20I against New Zealand in Rawalpindi on Sunday.

It is the third major blow for the hosts since Azam Khan was the first player to get ruled out of the series before the first T20I. He experienced discomfort in his right knee and right calf muscle.
