Pakistan Army relief and rescue efforts continue amid rain related losses in Karachi.

Heavy rains affected various parts of Karachi where Army’ has deployed engineers along with heavy machinery and specialised equipment.

Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR) press release on Wednesday said that Army deployed aforesaid teams to stop water flow from Malir Nadi.

They were refilling the breached area to stopwater flow.

Water in Malir Nadi had reduced and backflow from Quaidabad to Malir Nadi had started.

Pak Army also deployed Army engineers boats in various areas to shift stranded people to safer places.

Cooked meal was being provided to affected population struck due to heavy rains .

At least 200 families have been marooned in Dur Mohammad Goth and Kohi Goth because of flooding in the Malir Nadi, it said, adding they have taken refuge on the rooftops of their houses and will be rescued via helicopters after weather clearance.

Besides, Rangers and Pak Navy alongwith civil administration rescue teams are busy in evacuating people to safer places.

Pak Navy teams rescued people stranded in rain water in Dadabhai colony, Madina Town, Yar Mohammad Goth and other parts of the city.

People residing along Malir River and Sukhan river were also shifted to safer places as water entered in residential areas.

Traffic remains badly affected as national highway came under water after overflow of the Sukhan river.

At least three people have died in rain related incidents in the city so far.

Meanwhile, following heavy rains in different parts of Sindh especially in Karachi and Hyderabad Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah has declared Rain Emergency all over the province.
