ATC Indicted Aleema Khan in November 26 Protest Case
The Anti-Terrorism Court in Rawalpindi has indicted Aleema Khan in the November 26 protest case, according to national media reports on Wednesday. The case is related to a protest held by PTI at Islamabad’s D-Chowk last year.
During the court hearing at Sadiqabad police station, charges were framed against 10 accused, including Aleema Khan. She had challenged the court’s jurisdiction under Section 23 of the Anti-Terrorism Act.
The protest on November 26 was organized by PTI to demand the restoration of the party’s electoral mandate, release of detained leaders, and repeal of the 26th Constitutional Amendment. Thousands of workers from different provinces joined the protest in Islamabad.
The government refused to hold talks during the protest, which led to clashes between protesters and security forces. Incidents of arson and vandalism caused damage to public property.
Aleema Khan was nominated in the case at Sadiqabad police station and is accused of inciting the protest, violating Section 144, chanting anti-government slogans, vandalism, and terrorism charges. The court proceedings are ongoing.
