Pakistan Banks Issue New Alert for Customers — Nov 2025
Amid a surge in banking-related cybercrimes, the Banking Ombudsman has issued a critical public advisory to safeguard citizens from financial losses and increase awareness about growing threats in the digital space.
In recent years, banking frauds have been on the rise, with criminals using increasingly sophisticated tactics to target unsuspecting individuals and sometimes draining their lifetime savings.
The Banking Ombudsman acts as a regulatory body addressing complaints from victims of such frauds. According to a spokesperson, thousands of affected customers have already received compensation this year. Between January and October, a total of 28,704 bank customers were reimbursed, with a combined sum of Rs1.46 billion successfully returned after case resolutions.

The advisory urged the public not to share personal or financial information with third parties under any circumstances. Citizens were also warned against clicking on links sent via unverified or unreliable sources.
The spokesperson further stated, “In the event of receiving any suspicious phone calls, individuals should immediately contact their respective banks and report such incidents to the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency.”
This alert comes as part of ongoing efforts to educate the public and prevent losses caused by increasingly sophisticated cybercriminal operations targeting Pakistan’s banking sector.
