September 1965 War: Pakistan Forces Continue Successful Attacks on Day 11

On the eleventh day of the September 1965 war, the morale and determination of the Pakistan Armed Forces grew stronger after defeating the initial Indian attacks.

The Pakistani forces became fully prepared for organized counterattacks and strong assaults against the enemy. Their repeated successful attacks put senior Indian military officers under pressure and lowered their morale.

The Indian 4th Mountain Division, 2nd Independent Armoured Brigade Group and an additional tank regiment attacked Pakistan’s Kasur area from Khem Karan. Pakistani forces responded strongly, forced the Indian troops to retreat and captured Khem Karan.

In the Lahore sector, Pakistani forces stopped the Indian advance towards Lahore and defeated attempts to recapture Khem Karan. Indian troops reached the Harike-Barki Road but faced heavy losses.

In the Sialkot sector, Pakistani forces launched a major tank attack and destroyed 36 Indian tanks. In the Chhamb sector, Pakistani troops captured an Indian military post north of Deva.

Pakistani forces also made further gains in the Sindh-Rajasthan sector and captured more Indian posts at Gadra while advancing rapidly northwards.

The Pakistan Air Force destroyed a formation of MiG aircraft at Halwara and also destroyed two more Indian bomber aircraft at Bagdogra Airbase in West Bengal.

Following Operation Dwarka, the Pakistan Navy continued to maintain its dominance in the Arabian Sea.
