Ishaq Dar Discusses Regional Situation With IAEA Chief Rafael Grossi

ISLAMABAD: Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar held a telephone conversation with International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Director General Rafael Grossi, who is also a candidate for the post of United Nations Secretary-General.
The conversation took place late Sunday night and focused on the evolving regional situation and diplomatic efforts to reduce tensions.
During the discussion, Ishaq Dar and Rafael Grossi agreed that implementation of the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) remained the best course of action for easing tensions and promoting a peaceful resolution.
Grossi also offered technical support from the IAEA should the need arise.
The discussion highlighted the importance of maintaining diplomatic channels and using existing understandings to prevent further escalation.
Ishaq Dar reaffirmed Pakistan’s longstanding commitment to the purposes and principles of the UN Charter, as well as respect for international law and international treaties.
He also emphasised the important role of the United Nations system in advancing the global agenda for peace and development.
The Deputy Prime Minister stressed that international cooperation and multilateral institutions remain essential for addressing complex regional and global challenges.
Ishaq Dar also conveyed his best wishes to Rafael Grossi for his campaign for the position of UN Secretary-General.
The conversation comes amid continuing regional tensions and renewed diplomatic efforts to prevent further escalation through dialogue, international law and multilateral mechanisms.
