PSX soars to all-time high, crosses 72,000 milestone

24 April, 2024 11:05

Shares at the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) have climbed 900 points today to breach the key 72,000 level for the first time.

The KSE-100 index has gained 854.19, or 1.2 per cent, to reach 72,213.59 in the morning session from the previous close of 71,359.40 points.

Topline Securities’s Mohammad Sohail said this was yet another record high at the Pakistan Stock Exchange. The financial expert attributed the bullish trend to being mainly led by institutional buying.

Sohail said that after the record current account surplus, now investors are expecting a big decline in April CPI (Consumer Price Index), which may result in a reduction in interest rate in the months to come.

Earlier, the KSE-100 index had surpassed the key 71,000 level on Monday.
