Kirsten Storms, who plays “Maxie Jones” on the popular soap opera General Hospital, has shared a heartfelt update about her health.

The actress revealed that she was diagnosed with a brain aneurysm earlier this year. The news comes as she takes a temporary break from the show to move to Tennessee and build her new home.

On October 13, the 41-year-old actress opened up about her condition in an Instagram post, explaining that the aneurysm — a bulge in a blood vessel in the brain — was discovered during a scan in January.

“I wanted to post this because even though my brain seems to be sorta lowkey rebelling against me, it does allow me to understand that we’ve all got times when things aren’t great…”

she wrote, sharing photos with friends and thanking them for their support. She also addressed false rumors about her hospital stay, saying that some people had made up hurtful stories about her.

Storms revealed that doctors first tried to treat the aneurysm by “threading a camera from my leg up to my brain,” but due to its “slightly complex situation,” the procedure couldn’t be completed right away. She is now waiting for a minimally invasive coiling procedure to block blood flow to the aneurysm, which is scheduled within the next two weeks.

The scan also uncovered a “very small” cyst on her brain stem, prompting her to make big lifestyle changes. She decided to leave Los Angeles to focus on her “physical and mental health,” and for the happiness of her 11-year-old daughter, Harper, whom she shares with ex-husband Brandon Barash.

During this time, Kirsten has been finding comfort in her close friends, including her General Hospital costar Emme Rylan. She shared a photo of them together, writing, “Here I am with Emme, in St. Louis… and we are crocheting the most beautiful sweaters, while my coiling procedure is being scheduled…”

Kirsten Storms continues to focus on recovery, staying positive, and surrounding herself with love and support while facing this challenging chapter in her life.
