The United Nations Security Council passed a resolution for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza.

A meeting of the Security Council was held to vote on the cease-fire resolution in the Gaza Strip, in which the resolution was approved.

An immediate ceasefire resolution was presented by 10 member states of the Security Council.

Among the countries that submitted the resolution were Algeria, Japan, Ecuador, Switzerland, South Korea, Malta and other countries.

14 out of 15 members of the Security Council supported the resolution, while the United States did not participate in the voting on the Gaza ceasefire resolution.

The resolution also includes the unconditional release of hostages and unhindered aid access to Gaza. Minutes before the vote, the United States changed the wording of a permanent cease-fire in the resolution to a long-term cease-fire.

It should be noted that earlier also 4 resolutions were presented in the UN Security Council regarding the ceasefire in Gaza, but none of them could be approved.

United Nations chief Antonio Guterres, reacting to the adoption of the resolution, has demanded an immediate ceasefire and the immediate and unconditional release of the hostages. He has said that this resolution should be implemented immediately, otherwise it will be unforgivable.

Hamas has welcomed the adoption of a ceasefire resolution in Gaza by the Security Council.
