Sindh Senior Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon met a delegation from the World Bank to discuss transport, investment, and infrastructure development projects in the province. During the meeting, officials briefed the delegation on the progress of the Yellow Line Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) project, with Memon reaffirming the government’s commitment to completing the project on schedule and in line with quality standards.
The World Bank delegation praised the Sindh government’s transport reforms, particularly the electric (EV) bus service and the Pink EV Scooty Scheme. The delegation noted that greater participation by private investors would enhance the long-term sustainability of transport projects and expressed support for continued collaboration in the sector.
Sharjeel Memon emphasized the need for stronger coordination among development partners to ensure the successful implementation of infrastructure initiatives. He said investment opportunities would be offered for special bus routes and announced that a workshop on the project would be held soon. The minister also invited the World Bank to invest in the initiative, adding that the Sindh government plans to introduce 500 more environmentally friendly EV buses to meet Karachi’s growing public transport needs while reducing air pollution and promoting green mobility.
