Turkish Foreign Minister Warns Against Regime Change in Iran
Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan has warned that any attempt at regime change in Iran would trigger “far more dangerous scenarios” and pose a major threat to the entire Middle East. Ankara’s position remains that the United States should limit its operations strictly to military targets. Fidan emphasized that attacking military infrastructure and pursuing political transformation are two entirely different paths; the latter, he cautioned, would lead to unpredictable regional instability and a power vacuum.
Despite the escalation, the foreign minister noted that Turkey remains in close contact with all parties, including Oman, to facilitate a return to negotiations. He stated that a “window of opportunity” for peace may emerge with a new Iranian leadership and that both Turkey and its Gulf partners are working intensively to end the hostilities. Minister Fidan reiterated that the region has suffered enough from decades of war and that diplomacy remains the only rational course to avoid a total regional collapse.
