Iran Says US Strike Hits Desalination Plant, Launches Attack on American Bases

Iranian authorities have accused the United States of targeting civilian infrastructure after a reported strike on the Monji Jask desalination plant in the southern province of Hormozgan disrupted drinking water supplies to nearly 30 villages. Abdolkarim Hashemi, the member of parliament representing Jask, said the attack damaged the facility’s seawater intake systems and pumping stations, alleging that Washington was deliberately targeting public utilities, roads and bridges in violation of humanitarian principles and international law.

In response, Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) said its Aerospace Force launched the 20th wave of Operation Nasr-2, targeting the US military base at Al Azraq in Jordan. In a statement, the IRGC claimed missiles and drones struck aircraft shelters and parking areas, destroying at least two fighter jets and three other aircraft while inflicting further damage on military infrastructure. The IRGC Ground Force also said it targeted US positions in Bahrain and Kuwait, including Camp Arifjan and Ali Al Salem Air Base, claiming to have destroyed a radar system, a weapons maintenance facility and a drone hangar.

Separately, the Iranian Army announced drone operations under Operation Thunderbolt against US military facilities in Kuwait and Jordan, saying the strikes hit ammunition depots, logistics facilities, command centers and defense systems. According to the army, drones targeted ammunition storage sites at Camp Al Udairi in Kuwait, facilities at Ali Al Salem Air Base and fuel storage sites at Al Azraq Air Base in Jordan. The IRGC also claimed that two oil tankers caught fire after attempting to navigate through a mined route south of the Strait of Hormuz.
