He reaffirmed Pakistan’s determination to continue to play positive role for regional peace and security including the Afghan peace process.

The Foreign Minister thanked the Turkish counterpart for his country’s consistent and categorical stance on Kashmir dispute.

He said Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan raised the voice of oppressed Kashmiri people at the 75th session of the UN General Assembly.

Qureshi noted this has given courage and confidence to the Kashmiri people.

He expressed satisfaction that both the countries share identical views on important regional and international matters.

Meanwhile, Turkish Foreign Minister appreciated the steps which Pakistan had taken for regional peace, including its efforts for peace in Afghanistan.

On the other hand, Ambassador Munir Akram spoke at the General Assembly’s Sixth Committee, which deals with legal matters.

Measures to Eliminate International Terrorism

In a debate on ‘Measures to Eliminate International Terrorism,’ he told the United Nations on Tuesday that India was suppressing the Kashmiris’ struggle for self-determination.

He further said that “insufficient” effort has been made to distinguish terrorism from the pursuit of peoples’ legitimate right for self-determination and national liberation.

Munir Akram noted suppression of self-determination and foreign occupation the worst form of state terrorism.

He called for defeating terrorism comprehensively, everywhere, in all its manifestations.

Moreover, he rejected addressing the issue, selectively.
