Court rejects plea that seeks ban on political and religious gatherings.

The Islamabad High Court (IHC) turned down the petition that sought aforesaid ban due to the global coronavirus outbreak.

However, IHC Chief Justice Athar Minallah remarked that everyone is involved in politics.

Moreover, he observed why should they intervene if concerned elements don’t follow court order.

He remarked that it is up to Parliament and the executive authorities to play their part in mobilizing the nation to address the challenges of coronavirus.

On the other hand, government has also slammed the Opposition parties alliance PDM for rallies.

Prime Minister and ministers urged them to cancel all public rallies due to pandemic threat.

Meanwhile, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on National Health Services Dr Faisal Sultan made an important announcement.

He said that the government has decided to observe ‘COVID-19 standard operating procedures (SOPs) compliance week.’

He said they would observe SOPs week from December 5-12 to create awareness about the importance of Corona safety measures to protect citizens.

Faisal Sultan said this, while briefing the media at National Command and Operation Center (NCOC) on Wednesday.

Dr Faisal said that people should follow SOPs like social distancing, hand sanitizing or washing, wearing of face mask etc.

Minister laments

Meanwhile, NCOC head Asad Umar lamented people were not supporting the government during the second wave.

He further said people are taking coronavirus for granted although they should see it a danger.

The minister also urged the opposition to take the situation of coronavirus seriously.

Furthermore, he said the court had ordered to implement all standard operating procedures (SOPs).
