Pakistan, England name playing XIs for second Test

14 October, 2024 14:45

Pakistan and England have announced their playing XI for the upcoming second Test starting from October 15 in Multan.

The Test marks the return of England Test captain Ben Stokes, who missed Sri Lanka series and first Test due to injury.

Meanwhile, Pakistan will be taking the field without Babar Azam, who is replaced by debutant Kamran Ghulam.

As both teams prepare for a potentially lower-scoring encounter, the match will be played on the same pitch used during England’s innings victory in the first Test.

The surface has been heavily watered but has dried out under the sun during two days of practice, indicating that spinners could play a crucial role in this match.

England Playing XI: Zak Crawley, Ben Duckett, Ollie Pope, Joe Root, Harry Brook, Ben Stokes (capt), Jamie Smith (wk), Brydon Carse, Matthew Potts, Jack Leach, and Shoaib Bashir

Pakistan playing XI: Shan Masood (capt), Saim Ayub, Abdullah Shafique, Kamran Ghulam, Saud Shakeel, Mohammad Rizwan (wk), Salman Ali Agha, Aamir Jamal, Noman Ali, Sajid Khan, and Zahid Mehmood.
