Babar Azam equals Hashim Amla’s ODI record

Former Pakistan captain Babar Azam has equaled South Africa great Hashim Amla’s record to become the joint fastest batter to complete 6,000 runs in one-day format.

The prolific batter achieved this feat in the ongoing tri-nation series final between Pakistan and New Zealand.

Babar Azam took exactly 123 innings to complete the milestone. He has scored 19 centuries and 34 half-centuries at an impressive average of 55.98.

Meanwhile, Hashim Amla achieved the feat during the 2015 South Africa tour of India in 2015 in Mumbai. Amla, who retired from ODIs in 2019, overall scored 8113 runs at an average of 49.46. He scored 27 centuries and 39 half-centuries in the format.

India’s Virat Kohli is second in the list, having scored same number of runs in 136 innings.

New Zealand Kane Williamson and Australia’s David Warner achieved the same feat in 139 innings each.
