It would be an upset if Pakistan beat India: Ex-Pak batter

22 February, 2025 11:47

Former Pakistan batter Basit Ali said it would be an upset if Pakistan beat India in the upcoming ICC Champions Trophy clash on Sunday in Dubai.

The former batter made these comment during a Champions Trophy transmission.

“The way Pakistan are playing cricket, India have an 85 percent chance of winning, while Pakistan’s chances are only 15%,” said Basit. “If Pakistan win, it will be a big upset.”

Former wicketkeeper Kamran Akmal echoed Basit’s opinion saying that an upset is possible as India hold a ‘clear advantage’.

“We can call it an upset because the Indian team is complete,” Akmal said. “The only chance for Pakistan’s victory over India in CT25 is to take early wickets with the new ball.”

The former wicketkeeper also highlighted Pakistan’s bowling struggle specially in middle and death overs.

“We only have one spinner in the middle overs, we are not taking wickets with the new ball, and we are conceding too many runs in the death overs,” he added.

According to him, India have 90 percent chances of winning the game and there is only 10 percent chance for Pakistan.

The two teams will square off on Sunday, February 23, at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium.

Previously, India are on the winning spree against Pakistan in the head-to-head record in recent years, winning all of their last five games.
