Pakistan’s NSC warns Israeli attacks on Iran may spark broader conflict

23 June, 2025 18:52

Pakistan’s National Security Committee (NSC) has strongly warned that Israel’s “reckless” military attacks on Iran have dangerously raised regional tensions. The committee said these actions could lead to a much bigger conflict and hurt any chances of peaceful talks.

The warning came after a high-level meeting led by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, where the current regional situation was discussed in detail.

According to the official statement, the NSC supported Iran’s right to self-defense as guaranteed by the United Nations Charter.

The committee condemned the Israeli strikes and expressed regret that these attacks happened during a positive negotiation process between Iran and the United States. They also offered condolences to the people and government of Iran for the loss of innocent lives.

The NSC showed serious concern over Israeli attacks on Iran’s nuclear sites in Fordow, Natanz, and Isfahan on June 22, saying these actions violated international law, IAEA resolutions, and the UN Charter.

Reaffirming Pakistan’s stance, the NSC urged all parties involved to de-escalate tensions through diplomacy and dialogue.

The committee also stressed the need to respect international human rights and humanitarian law, and said Pakistan remains committed to working with all countries to promote peace and stability in the region.
