Counter-Terror Operation in Upper Dir Leaves 9 Militants Dead
Peshawar: A major counter-terrorism operation in Upper Dir has resulted in the killing of nine militants over the past three days, District Police Officer (DPO) confirmed on Tuesday.
According to the DPO, five bodies of slain terrorists have been recovered so far. Among the dead is local commander Sajidullah, a resident of Birkot, who was actively involved in militant activities in the region.
The DPO further stated that Sajidullah, along with his accomplices, was responsible for an attack on a police mobile van in which three police personnel were martyred. During the ongoing operation, two civilians also embraced martyrdom, while 10 personnel of police and Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) sustained injuries.
Security forces have expanded the search operation after reports of the presence of more militants in the area. Heavy contingents of police and CTD remain deployed to ensure stability and security.
