Punjab Education Secretary Denies Extension of School Holidays Amid Flood Rumors

School holidays extended in this city - check details
Punjab Education Secretary Khalid Nazir Watoo on Wednesday rejected social media claims suggesting that school holidays across the province had been extended until September 5.
In his statement, Watoo confirmed that the circulating notification is fake and not linked to the department. “No such notification has been issued by the Education Department regarding additional holidays,” he stated, urging the public to trust only official sources for updates.
He further advised parents, teachers, and students to follow the verified Facebook page of the School Education Department for authentic information.
The clarification comes at a time when Punjab is grappling with severe flooding caused by heavy inflows of water released from India into eastern rivers. Rising levels in the Chenab, Ravi, and Sutlej rivers have heightened safety concerns for communities across the province.
According to the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA), over 210,000 people have already been evacuated from vulnerable districts, while the Pakistan Army continues its rescue and relief operations. Fortunately, no loss of life has been reported so far.
