Chup Tazia procession begins in Karachi: Here is all about traffic plan and alternative routes
The annual Chup Tazia procession started in Karachi on Tuesday, September 2, 2025, from Nishtar Park. The day began with a Majlis at the park. After that, the traditional procession moved towards Hussainiya Iranian Noor Bagh, where it will end with the last Majlis.
Security Arrangements
Karachi police and administration have taken strict measures for the event. Around 3,400 police officers have been deployed from Nishtar Park to Kharadar. For the Shah Najaf procession in District Central, more than 2,300 officers are on duty. Snipers are also positioned on rooftops, while CCTV surveillance is active across the entire route. Additional IG Javed Alam Odho has ordered all units to stay fully alert.
Markets and shops along the procession route remain closed for security reasons.
Traffic Diversion Plan
The Karachi traffic police announced a detailed traffic plan to help citizens during the procession.
District Central:
From Nazimabad: Take Lasbela Chowk and move to Nishtar Road via Garden.
From Liaquatabad: Use Teen Hatti, then Lasbela Chowk, and continue to Martin Road near Central Jail.
From Hassan Square: Use Kashmir Road to Shahrah-e-Quaideen or take Jail Flyover to Teen Hatti and Nishtar Road.
District East:
From Shahrah-e-Faisal: Turn at Society Light Signal to reach Kashmir Road.
From Jamshed Road: Take Guru Mandir, Bihar Colony, Darya Khan Road, and Soldier Bazaar.
District South:
From Garden Zoo: Use Uncle Saria Hospital Road, then continue to Gul Plaza or Coast Guard/Holy Family Hospital, leading to MA Jinnah Road.
Heavy Traffic:
From Super Highway: Vehicles are diverted from Liaquatabad No. 10 to Nazimabad Chowrangi No. 2, then through Habib Bank Flyover and State Avenue Road to Sher Shah and Maripur.
From National Highway: Use Shahrah-e-Faisal or Rashid Minhas Road to Stadium Road, then Hassan Square to Sher Shah and Maripur.
MA Jinnah Road will remain closed for public traffic. Only vehicles with official procession passes are allowed entry from Shahrah-e-Quaideen Society Light Signal.
Procession Route
The procession will follow its traditional route from Nishtar Park and end at Noor Bagh Passenger Station / Hussainiya Iranian Imambargah after the final Majlis.
