MDCAT 2025 Rescheduled: New Test Date Announced Amid Flood Challenges

12 September, 2025 12:30

The Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC) has officially revised the schedule for the Medical and Dental College Admission Test (MDCAT) 2025 due to the ongoing flooding in Punjab and Sindh.

The council said the decision was made after consultations with universities from across the provinces, as well as Azad Jammu and Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan, to ensure fairness for students in affected regions.

Originally set for October 5, 2025, the exam will now take place on October 26 (Sunday). Federal Minister Mustafa Kamal stated, “The move aims to serve the best interests of students, reaffirming the government’s commitment to ensuring equal educational opportunities for all across the country.”

Earlier, the PMDC also introduced a major reform with the launch of a digital question bank for MDCAT 2025. PMDC President Professor Dr. Rizwan Taj said the system would ensure greater transparency, with student registration and monitoring handled by the Council, while universities will manage question preparation, exam conduct, and marking.

The MDCAT 2025 syllabus remains consistent with national standards, covering Biology, Chemistry, Physics, English, and Logical Reasoning. Key changes include a reduced number of MCQs (180 instead of 200) and a shorter duration of three hours.

Eligibility remains at 65% in F.Sc (Pre-Medical) or equivalent, with candidates required to take the test in their domicile region. An overseas center will only be available in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

PMDC emphasized that the new schedule and reforms aim to remove regional disparities, strengthen transparency, and give all candidates equal preparation opportunities.
