Changes to School Timings Announced As Winter Begins

The School Education Department of Punjab has finalized a revised schedule for public educational institutions across the province, setting new operational hours to take effect soon.

According to the details, schools will now commence at 8:45 am and conclude at 1:30 pm under the updated timetable. The official notification formalizing this decision is anticipated to be released on Monday, October 27, 2025.

Previously, on September 1, 2025, the District Education Authority (DEA) Lahore had introduced a schedule specifying school hours from 8:00 am to 1:30 pm on regular days and 8:00 am to 12:00 pm on Fridays. The same notification detailed second shift operations, designating hours from 2:00 pm to 5:30 pm, with Friday classes in the second shift scheduled between 2:30 pm and 5:30 pm.

In a related directive, the Punjab Education Foundation (PEF) had earlier instructed the temporary closure of schools severely impacted by flooding. Institutions operating under PEF’s management were ordered not to permit students to sit on floors and to shift classes to alternate nearby facilities if existing structures were deemed unsafe.

The PEF further pledged comprehensive support to the district administration in setting up relief camps for affected students and surrounding communities. Additionally, the foundation emphasized that school licensees would bear full responsibility for the protection of any valuable assets stored within these relief centers.
