Pakistan fixes maximum fees for MBBS and BDS admissions
ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC) has set a maximum fee limit for MBBS and BDS programs in private medical and dental colleges across the country.
According to a notification issued by PMDC, the decision was made following the recommendations of a committee formed on the instructions of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif. The council has fixed the maximum tuition fee at Rs1.8 million, which includes all additional and ancillary charges.
PMDC clarified that this fee cap will apply to all sessions. Students enrolled in MBBS and BDS programs from first year to final year during the 2024–25 session will be charged under this fee structure.
The council further stated that a revised tuition fee of Rs1.89 million, which includes a 5 percent increase announced on October 6, 2025, will be applicable from the 2025–26 session onward. This revised fee will also apply to all students, from first year to final year, in both MBBS and BDS programs.
PMDC added that after 2026, any further increase in tuition fees, including all additional charges, will be allowed only on the basis of the Consumer Price Index (CPI). A separate notification will be issued when such an increase is approved.
The council has directed all private medical and dental colleges to strictly follow these instructions. It warned that strict action will be taken against institutions that violate the notified fee limits.
