Punjab announces new school timings for Ramadan
The School Education Department Punjab has officially announced new school timings for Ramadan across the province.
According to a notification issued on February 16, the revised schedule will apply to all public schools in Punjab. The changes are meant to support students, teachers, and staff who will be fasting during the holy month.
For single-shift schools, classes will start at 8:30 AM and end at 1:00 PM from Monday to Thursday. On Fridays, schools will close earlier at 12:30 PM. The shorter school day is designed to reduce tiredness and help students return home safely before late afternoon.
In double-shift schools, the morning shift will run from 8:30 AM to 12:30 PM from Monday to Thursday. The second shift will begin at 1:00 PM and continue until 4:00 PM. On Fridays, the evening shift will start at 2:30 PM and end at 5:00 PM.
The department has also made special arrangements for girls’ schools. These schools will open and close 15 minutes earlier than the regular schedule. This step has been taken to make it easier and safer for female students to travel.
Officials said the new timings will remain in effect for the entire month of Ramadan. After the holy month ends, schools will return to their normal schedule.
Every year, the Government of Punjab adjusts school hours during Ramadan to make things easier for those who are fasting. Parents, teachers, and school administrations have been asked to strictly follow the new timetable and ensure that studies continue smoothly.
