Jaun Ailiya Sarkar- The Never Ending Era of Revolution

31 May, 2026 15:35

There are poets who write verses but there are some who write with blood, fire and philosophical peak refreshed at mid-night half way into the sleep a poet written by “Fate” itself. Great Jaun Ailiya belonged to the second kind maybe he invented this kind by being a poet and a philosopher. Imagine a man walking on the crowded streets of Karachi, talking to himself without a brief case, but with an argument on existence itself, he is questioning and giving answers, like somebody is talking to unseen person or the angel of wisdom.

He would look like he has just lost a battle with the universe in a debate and already preparing for a re-match not to beat but to let the opponent know about the mystery or maybe the truth. In this strange story of argumentative debate of Intellect, Wisdom, Knowledge, Philosophy and Heart break, “Allama” was both the narrator and the mystery.

Born into a blood stream rich with knowledge and literature, he inherited books the way others inherits property. Philosophy sat beside poetry on his shelves, while history, religion, and politics competed for space in his restless mind. Yet the more he learned, the less certain he became. His life often resembled one of his own verses beautiful, brilliant, and slightly annoyed at reality to some. While others searched for answers, Jaun specialized in asking questions that made answers uncomfortable, his arguments were way ahead of his time when the World was on the cross roads of extremism and new modernization he was at the height of “Uncomfortable Truths”.

His poetry was not only written it was wrestled into existence and tearing apart the old school of thought designed to make humans comfortable and rely on already existing thoughts. Collections such as “Shayad,” “Yaani,” “Gumaan,” and “Lekin” felt less like books and more like conversations held at midnight between a wounded heart and an overqualified philosopher. Love would often appear in his writing but not as a fairy tale but as a dream half fulfilled. Even while noticing his truths in the poetry the reader would know his journey of love, cigarette ashes, burned furniture, shattered expectations and sudden humor, making a legacy for him specially now among GenZ who can easily understand the stings of his truths after the emergence of Philosophical thought in recent times.

“Allama” wandered through scepticism, existential reflection, and intellectual rebellion not only with the World but often with himself as well. He treated certainty with suspicion and contradiction with surprising affection such as questions and answers to Life and Universe. If life offered him a neat conclusion, he would probably cross it out and write a sarcastic footnote underneath. He questioned traditions, challenged assumptions, and examined human behavior with the curiosity of a scientist and the disappointment of a romantic. For him, thinking was not a hobby; it was a lifelong condition, he was usually creating and spreading reason not conclusions and boundaries to set up his own thoughts.

His personal life carried its own share of observations and experiences. Relationships, migration, loneliness, and emotional upheavals shaped the man behind the verses he presented with anger and pain but yet attraction and peak of thought pattern for others. Even in deep sorrow, he would carry a peculiar sense of humor. He could transform despair into a clever remark and turn heartbreak into a memorable observation. It was as if he stood in the rain without an umbrella, not because he enjoyed getting wet, but because he wanted to analyze the rain first, the analyzing part maybe was the most beautiful sources to him.

The fascinating and mysterious thing about Jaun was that he became a legend almost accidentally after his death. For years, he remained more admired in literary circles than among the general public. Then new generations discovered him and his poetry is now the talk of the town. Young readers found in his poetry a rare companion someone intelligent enough to understand their confusion and honest enough not to pretend everything would be fine. His lines traveled across books, cafés, universities, and eventually the digital world, where his words found new life decades after they were written, GenZ has found a companion in his writings where they complain about being not completely understand by the previous generation. I still remember debate competitions and learned a reply to give to any female speaker before you “You may be very attractive and beautiful, but life itself is not. Do not argue, you will lose; beauty is not that great of an argument after all.” This was a deal breaker in our debating era the whole crowd would turn our way making a way for our win or being famous.

In the end, Jaun Elia Bhai was not merely a poet who wrote about life, love, philosophy, and loss he became the voice of those who could never fully explain their own contradictions to friends, family and the society. His life was a strange blend of brilliance and chaos, wisdom and rebellion, laughter and loneliness which often happens to great philosophers fighting their own thoughts and creating replies as well. Through his books and verses, he left behind more than poetry; he left a mirror in which generations continue to see their doubts, desires, and unfinished questions which now seem reachable and solved up to a great extent. Jaun did not promise answers, nor did he pretend to understand the world completely as if he would suddenly bump a question and say even I am pondering over this. Instead, he taught his readers that there is beauty even in confusion, and dignity even in heartbreak. His words continue to wander through time like an old traveler, carrying truth, irony, and longing in equal measure.

“I am also very strange; I narrate my own story,
and then remain silent.”
— Jaun Elia
