Indian opposition criticises Modi govt over Operation Sindoor
India’s opposition leaders and former military officers have strongly criticised the government over its handling of information related to Operation Sindoor.
According to reports by The Hindu, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh is facing criticism over claims that details about soldiers who died during Operation Sindoor were kept hidden for 13 months.
Congress leader Supriya Shrinate accused the defence minister of misleading the public about the deaths of soldiers and said their sacrifices were not treated with honesty and respect.
Retired Wing Commander Anuma Acharya also criticised the Modi government, claiming it had failed to properly honour its soldiers and had put political interests ahead of transparency, according to The Hindu.
Former Indian Army officer Colonel Rohit Chaudhary said the ruling party uses the military for political purposes, especially during election campaigns.
Reports said opposition parties have demanded that the government apologise and take responsibility over the issue.
Journalist Sujit Nair also claimed that the government has used the sacrifices of soldiers for political gain.
The controversy has increased political tensions in India, with opposition leaders calling for greater transparency and accountability over Operation Sindoor.
