Jamaat-e-Islami Rejects Government’s Petrol Relief Package

Jamaat-e-Islami Deputy Amir Liaquat Baloch has rejected the government’s statement regarding the petrol relief package, saying the party has completely opposed the initiative. Speaking in Lahore, Baloch said the government’s impression that Jamaat-e-Islami had welcomed its relief measures was “wrong and baseless.”

Baloch said no relief package could serve as a substitute for abolishing the petroleum levy, adding that the party had made its position clear during discussions with the government’s committee. He rejected what he described as “artificial measures,” arguing that such steps would not provide meaningful relief to the public.

Accusing the government of attempting to divert public pressure through what he called misleading media statements, Baloch said the measures would serve no practical purpose. He reiterated Jamaat-e-Islami’s demand for the complete removal of the petroleum levy and warned that failure to meet the demand would lead to a march toward Islamabad.
