Ishaq Dar, Austrian Foreign Minister Discuss Bilateral Ties at UNGA

NEW YORK: Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar met with Austrian Minister for European and International Affairs Beate Meinl-Reisinger on the sidelines of the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York.

The two sides expressed satisfaction over the positive trajectory of Pakistan-Austria bilateral relations and reaffirmed their commitment to further expanding cooperation in several areas.

During the meeting, Ishaq Dar and Beate Meinl-Reisinger discussed ways to strengthen cooperation in trade, investment, economic relations, education and people-to-people contacts.

Both sides agreed that stronger engagement in these areas could further deepen bilateral relations and create opportunities for greater cooperation between Pakistan and Austria.

The two foreign ministers also exchanged views on regional and international developments, including the situation in the Middle East.

Ishaq Dar underscored the importance of dialogue, diplomacy and the peaceful resolution of disputes in accordance with the principles of the UN Charter and international law.

The Austrian foreign minister appreciated Pakistan’s constructive role in promoting regional peace and stability and stressed the importance of sustained diplomatic engagement in addressing regional and global challenges.

Ishaq Dar also stressed the importance of the full implementation of the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) by all parties.

The two sides agreed to maintain close engagement on matters of mutual interest and continue working to strengthen Pakistan-Austria relations.
