Arshad Sharif killed by Kenyan police in ‘mistaken identity’ case

Senior journalist and TV host Arshad Sharif was shot dead in Kenya, Nairobi, his wife confirmed early morning on Monday, the Kenyan police saying that the journalist was shot in a “mistaken identity” case.

As per reports the acclaimed journalist Arshad Sharif was killed near the Nairobi-Magadi highway.

Whereas Kenyan police has described the unfortunate incident as a ‘ case of mistaken identity.’

As per details the senior police officer said, “It was the case of mistaken identity, police at the roadblock were searching for the other vehicle that had been circulated.”

According to police, at the roadblock, there was a call to intercept a vehicle similar to the one Arshad and his friends were driving following a carjacking incident in Pangani area, where a child was taken hostage.

A few minutes later, Sharif’s car emerged at the roadblock, and they were stopped and asked to identify themselves. They allegedly drove past the roadblock which prompted a brief chase and shooting that left Sharif dead.

Arshad Sharif was shot in the head, while the two others were severely injured after the car lost the control and rolled.

The police officials termed the incident, “unfortunate.”
