Asif Zardari takes oath as 14th president of Pakistan

Asif Ali Zardari has taken the oath as 14th president of Pakistan on Sunday.

Chief Justice Supreme Court of Pakistan Justice Qazi Faiz Isa administered the oath to the newly elected president.

The swearing-in ceremony was held at the President’s House.

Yesterday, PPP’s Asif Zardari was elected as the 14th president of the country with a huge majority.

As per results, Asif Zardari got 255 votes in parliament while Mahmood Achakzai bagged 119 votes. In Punjab Assembly, the PPP candidate got 43 electoral votes while SIC candidate secured 18 votes. In Sindh Assembly, the former president received 58 votes while PkMAP’s Achakzai got only 3 votes.

Asif Zardari got 8 votes while Mahmood Achakzai bagged 41 votes in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly.

The PPP co-chairman got 47 votes in Balochistan Assembly while Achakzai could not get any votes.

Prime Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif while congratulating Asif Ali Zardari on being elected as the president of Pakistan for the second time said that the election of Asif Ali Zardari as the president is a continuation of democratic values.
