IHC orders to shift Bushra to Adiala Jail

The Islamabad High Court has ordered to shift Bushra Bibi, the spouse of PTI founder and former prime minister Imran Khan,  to Adiala Jail from Banigala sub-jail.

At the onset of the hearing today, the IHC accepted the Bushra Bibi’s plea to transfer her to Adiala Jail from Banigal sub-jail.

The court declared null and void the notification on keeping the spouse of former prime minister at Banigala sub-jail.

The reserved verdict was announced by Justice Mian Gul Hassan Aurangzeb.

Last week, the IHC had reserved its verdict after the arguments of the parties.

Bushra Bibi was placed under house arrest at Banigala on January 31 after her conviction in the Toshakhana case. The former first lady’s residence Banigala was declared a sub-jail at the request of Adiala jail superintendent.

Later on February 6, Bushra Bibi had challenged the move to imprison her at Banigala in the Islamabad High Court. She, in her plea, maintained that like other PTI workers, she was ready to serve her sentence in the ordinary jail premises at Adiala Jail.
