Imran Khan nominates Gandapur for CM KP slot

13 February, 2024 15:54

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan has nominated Ali Amin Gandapur as his party’s candidate for Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s chief minister.

“KP’s chief minister will be Ali Amin Gandapur,” said the former prime minister while speaking to journalists in Adiala jail

PTI-backed independent candidates secured eye-opening 84 seats in KP Assembly and are in pole position to form the government.

Moreover, he once again brushed aside in forming an alliance with either the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), which won 75 seats, or the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) which secured 54 seats.

The PTI founder also brushed off the possibility of forming a coalition government with Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P).

Khan said that he had directed his party leaders to hold talks with other parties except these three.

Commenting on Nawaz Sharif’s victory speech postponement, he said that PMLN supremo knew he and his daughter have “lost both elections”.

He further claimed that PTI leader Aliya Hamza had received more than 100,000 votes while being in jail.

Khan said that his party would challenge the election results.

“We will also approach the Supreme Court against the poll results,” he added.
